The conversion process is not tricky, and requires a minimum of tools. The biggest requirement is a bit of confidence and a can-do attitude. In terms of difficulty, it would be well within the capabilities of the average DIYer.

Minimum Requirements (Standard Kit)
- A suitable donor guitar (‘advice for choosing a donor guitar’)
- Drill with 8mm and 6mm and 3mm wood bits
- Cross-head screwdriver
- Flat file (or sandpaper and a flat surface)
- Pliers
Additional and recommended requirements (Plus and Plus Gold kits)
- Flat file and square section and round section needle files
- A type of small plunge saw – pad saw, hacksaw handle, oscillating tool saw attachment, Dremel etc.
- Multi-purpose drill bits 8mm and 10mm
- Meter ruler
- Brad point (or a large sharpened nail)
- Stanley knife (not necessary but useful)
